NTP time servers are simple devices, meaning they are used for purposes of time synchronization, receiving an external source of time which is then distributed over a computer network using NTP (Network Time Protocol).
However, with a large number of 'free' Internet servers on the network many administrators make the decision that the NTP time server is not necessary for the parts of the equipment and that their network can dono.
