How To Stay Safe At Your Computer Desk

When you work at a computer desk all day, there are certain strains and stresses on the body that aren't the most safe or the most healthy. There are some changes that you can do that will help you be more safe while working on a computer for a number of hours each day. Find out what these are so that you can be more safe.

Learn safe typing posture. Many don't do this with their typing which can cause problems. You should not be resting your wrists on the desk or table and should not be bending your wrists that much when you are typing. If you don't learn this, you can develop some serious wrist pain that might need surgery to fix.

Make sure that you are sitting at least 2 feet away from the computer screen. It's not good to be too close as this is bad for your eyes. If you are too far away, your eyes will strain trying to see the small text on the screen.

Have your monitor high enough that you can look straight on at it. Many will have it either too low or too high meaning their neck is looking up or down the whole day. This can cause neck pain and make you feel more fatigued.

Get a comfortable chair. There are many chairs that are a bit more expensive that are designed to be comfortable and safe for you. These have multiple adjustments that can be made on them to be as comfortable as possible while at your desk. These help you sit better, have better posture, and will help you be less fatigued.

Make sure the lighting in the room is bright enough. When you have dim lighting or a dark room, it's not good for the eyes to be seeing your monitor.

No matter what, be sure that you get up, stretch, and walk around at least once per hour. This is good for your body and your eyes.
